The City of Glencoe is welcoming a new council member.

Glencoe, AL - Michael Sizemore was officially sworn in as a City Councilman for the City of Glencoe on Thursday night, February 2nd, at Glencoe City Hall. Sizemore says he is ready to get to work and to continue to move the city in the right direction.

“Well, it’s a good feeling. I am very humble to have the opportunity to serve and serve is what I want to do. We have many good things going on in the City and I’m grateful to be a part of it. I feel my strengths will be complimentary to the Council,” Sizemore said.

Sizemore is no stranger to the citizens of Glencoe, as he has currently serving as a Vice President of the Glencoe Athletic Foundation. He has also been employed by Bellsouth/AT&T for 24 years while coaching youth t-ball, baseball, softball, and basketball in Glencoe.

City Councilman Colt Turner and Mayor Chris Hare believe Sizemore is the right man for the job.

“Sizemore is going to do a great job, and he is the right man for the job, and he is ready to work. We need that person who’ll show up and be committed to giving it his all. Sizemore gives us some good knowledge and he is easy to talk to and easy to work with.” Turner said.

Mayor Chris Hare agrees.

“I can’t think of a better person than Sizemore to fill this Council seat considering the changes and circumstances Glencoe is experiencing. I know he is excited to step up for the City and we are excited to have someone with strong leadership skills who will show up and be involved,” said Hare.

Councilman Sizemore replaces former Councilman Chris Simms who resigned from office.
