Council Minutes November 26, 2024

Mayor Hare called the meeting to order. Present were, Councilman Colt Turner, Councilman Cody Rampey, Councilman Jeff Little, Councilman Danny Wagnon and Councilman Michael Sizemore.

 

Richard Johnson gave the invocation.

 

Mayor Hare asked the Council to look over the minutes of the November 12, 2024, regular meeting,  and note any changes to the City Clerk. Councilman Little made a motion to approve the minutes. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to approve accounts payable from November 12-November 25, 2024. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion to approve for 4 firefighters and 1 Police officer to attend EMT training on-line at a cost of $ 1,426 per student for a total cost of $ 7,130.00. We will be reimbursed $ 4,750.00 for tuition. They will sign a 3-year contract that if they leave the fire department, they must pay the cost back. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All the others voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion to approve the purchase of 2 windshield removal kits at a cost of $ 814.00 each for a total of $ 1,628.00. Councilman Sizemore seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion to approve the purchase of 6 fire wedges for vehicle and ladder stabilization at a cost of $ 469.00 each for a total of $ 2,814.00. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion to approve for the Chief Johnson and Jason Floyd to attend the Chief’s conference in Birmingham on February 10-13, 2024, at a cost of $ 1,616.00 for both. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion for the city to pay for the phase 1 cultural resource survey for the proposed culvert replacement project on Air Depot Road in the amount of $ 7,260.52 to TerraXplorations, Inc. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve Resolution 24-10 for the City Council to participate in the Economic Development Academy through the league of municipalities at a cost of $ 3,500.00 plus travel for the classes. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to approve for the mayor to sign the preliminary engineering contract with CDG Engineering for the ARC Grant. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve for Park & Rec to order a new Toro Workman UTX 2 passenger UTV to replace the Kubota at a cost of $ 29,358.25 from Jerry Pate Turf & Irrigation. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to approve for the mayor to sign an easement for Michael Wood at 1622 Sibert Drive to bore under the road for their septic system. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion to approve the purchase of a pocketalk S2 plus 360 bundle to use by the court for translation in the court room. Councilman Sizemore seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion to appoint Dustin Rosser to serve on the planning commission.

Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Sizemore made a motion to purchase the Dunn property at 1003 Buddy Street at a cost of $ 17,500.00  This is dependent on the survey/title search. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to move Gavin Barber to Operator 1 step 19 and Joe Thompson to Operator 11 step 16. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to approve the 1 time pay increase for $ 200.00 for full-time employees and $ 100.00 for part-time employees. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to donate $ 200.00 to CED Mental health for youth prevention conference in February at the Venue. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

 

With no further business to come before the council, Councilman Turner made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.
