Mayor Hare called the meeting to order. Present were, Mayor Chris Hare, Councilman Colt Turner, Councilman Cody Rampey, Councilman Jeff Little, Councilman Danny Wagnon, and Councilman Michael Sizemore.
Richard Johnson gave the invocation.
Open Bids from Gray Enterprise and J & K Excavating & Hauling LLC, for patch work to be done on East Main Street and Sibert Drive. The bids were as follow:
Gray Enterprise- Patch work on East Main Street- $ 18,500.00; Patch work on Sibert Drive- $ 14,222.00
J & K Excavating & Hauling LLC- Patch work on East Main Street-$ 12,000.00; Patch work on Sibert Drive- $ 9,000.00
Mayor Hare asked the Council to look over the minutes of the October 24, 2023, regular meeting, and November 2, 2023, special called meeting and note any changes to the City Clerk. Councilman Little made a motion to approve the minutes. Councilman Wagnon seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve accounts payable from October 24-November 13, 2023. Councilman Wagnon seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Little made a motion to approve for Kenon McKenzie and one other officer to attend training for Women’s self-defense program with Triad Martial Arts, Inc. at a cost of $ 1,400.00 for both to attend. The class with be the week of November 27, 2023, Monday-Friday from 8 to 5 p.m. at Gadsden State Police Department. Councilman Sizemore seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Little made a motion to approve the purchase of 11 new rifles for the police department at a cost of $ 32,573.64. This money will come from the driving school fund subject to the driving school committee’s approval. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Little made a motion to approve the purchase of a new dog kennel for Luna from Bama Sheds at a cost of $ 3,100.00. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Little made a motion to purchase a new digital camera for investigations from the sex offender account in the amount of $ 2,000.00. The current camera will go to Officer Anderson’s vehicle. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Little made a motion to approve to hire Lesa Young as a development consultant for an initial period of 6 months at $ 1,500.00 a month. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve to purchase a black chain link fence to replace the old wooden one around Wilson Park at a cost of $ 28,000.00. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Wagnon made motion to approve for Richard Johnson to purchase 2 backpack blowers for $ 400.00 and 3 Indian backpack fire pumps at a cost of $ 810.00. Councilman Little seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve for Craig Lipscomb to do the architectural drawing and the boundary markers of the park at a cost of $ 9,400.00. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Turner made a motion to approve the lowest bid for the patch work to be done on East Main Street and Sibert Drive be awarded to J & K Excavating & Hauling LLC., at a cost of $ 12,000 for East Main Street and $ 9,000.00 for Sibert Drive. Councilman Wagnon seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Turner made a motion to put lights on the new F-150 truck in the Street Department at a cost of $ 2,260.00 by Patriot Upfitters. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Turner made a motion to approve to put lights on the new F-250 truck in the Maintenance department at a cost of $ 4,290.00 by Patriot Upfitters. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Rampey made a motion to purchase a light for the high school baseball field in the amount of $ 1,500.00. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Sizemore made a motion to approve a donation to Sleep in Heavenly Peace for $ 250.00. Councilman Little seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Councilman Sizemore made a motion to approve to get the work done on the Senior Center that is needed to bring it up to code. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.
With no further business to come before the council, Councilman Little made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.
