Council Minutes March 28, 2023

Mayor Hare called the meeting to order. Present were, Councilman Colt Turner, Mayor Chris Hare, Councilman Cody Rampey, Councilman Jeff Little and Councilman Danny Wagnon. Councilman Michael Sizemore was absent.

 

Danny Yarbrough gave the invocation.

 

Mayor Hare asked the Council to look over the minutes of the March 14, 2023, meeting and note any changes to the City Clerk. Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve the minutes. Councilman Little seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve accounts payable from March 14-March 28, 2023. Councilman Little seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion to approve a Proclamation to proclaim the month of April 2023 as Fair Housing Month in recognition of the importance of fair housing to our way of life. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Wagnon made a motion to approve a donation to the Messenger for the Senior Tribute Magazine. ¼ horizontal color ad for$ 150.00. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to approve a maintenance contract on all the City’s air conditioning units with Mitchell’s Heating & Air for$ 1400 in spring and$ 1400.00 in the fall. All repairs will be extra and with a 25% discount to the city. Councilman Wagnon seconded the motion.

All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to place out for bid on paving: Ford’s Valley, Quarry Road, Pauline, Paxton, and Valmont Circle. Councilman Little seconded the motion. All vote aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve for Kenon to come up with a plan for the security cameras at the park. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion to approve for the purchase of a 2018 Ford Explorer for$ 29,995.00 from Chicago Motors Inc. for the police department. Councilman Wagnon seconded the motion. All vote aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve replacing the air units: Press box # 1 & #2 – Westinghouse 18k Btu Minisplit heat pump-installed with 5-year limited part and 7-year compressor for$ 2,500 each. Girls’ softball field- Rheem 3-ton package heat pump with IO-year limited parts/compressor warranty$ 5,200.00. This will be purchased from Mitchell’s Air-conditioning & Heating, LLC. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to go into executive session to discuss issues with an employee and reconvene afterwards. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion to reconvene. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to go into executive session to discuss the good name and character of individuals and reconvene afterwards. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to reconvene. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

With no further business to come before the council, Councilman Turner made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.
