Council Minutes March 24, 2026

Mayor Hare called the meeting to order. Present were Councilman Michael Sizemore, Councilman Colt Turner, Councilman Cody Rampey and Councilman Steven Warren, and Councilman Danny Wagnon.

Councilman Wagnon gave the invocation.

 

Patricia Falcon from the Barrie center presented Pinwheels to thank the City for their support of Child Abuse Month.

 

Ben Greene addressed those present regarding his candidacy for Board of Education, District 2.

 

Mayor Hare asked the Council to look over the minutes of March 10 , 2026, regular meeting and  note any changes to the City Clerk. Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve the minutes. Councilman Warren seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to accept the Central AL Asphalt bid of $419,657.50 for the Fords Valley Resurfacing project. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Warren made a motion to approve accounts payable from March 10, 2026- March 23, 2026. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

Councilman Wagnon made a motion to approve an ABC off-premise Business license for Kountry Korner. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve $46,200 in construction work at the Climate Control Equipment site, including concrete and replacement doors. Second by Councilman Sizemore. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to proceed with combining the City Celebration in the Park with Smoke in the Park and to hold the event on June 5 and 6. Councilman Sizemore seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve the purchase of Torro infield attachments at a cost of $2,878.60. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey thanked the County Commission for a grant to purchase an AED for Youth Football. He presented the AED to the Youth football board members.

 

Councilman Sizemore made a motion to expend $6,800 replacing heat pump/AC at the Senior Center. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Sizemore made a motion to approve the City applying for $250,000 appropriations funding from Senator Tubberville, with no matching amount. Second by Councilman Rampery. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve the City joining with the Water board to apply for a 4 million dollar grant. Councilman Warren seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

With no further business to come before the council, Councilman Sizemore made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.
