Council Minutes For April 12, 2022

Mayor Hare called the meeting to order. Present were, Councilman Colt Turner, Mayor Chris Hare, Councilman Chris Sims, Councilman Cody Rampey, Councilman Jeff Little and Councilman Danny Wagnon.

 

Josh Nugent gave the invocation.

 

Mayor Hare asked the Council to look over the minutes of the March 22, 2022, meeting and note any changes to the City Clerk. Councilman Little made a motion to approve the minutes. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to approve accounts payable from March 22-April 11, 2022. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Wagnon made a motion to approve an ad in the Messenger’s Senior Tribute Magazine for ¼ page ad for $ 150.00.  Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye

Councilman Wagnon made a motion to approve the city to contract with Vanguard to clean City Hall and Public safety buildings twice a week for $ 1,144.00 per month. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to approve the rehire of Judd Bell for the street department at Operator 2, Step 11 with insurance. Councilman Wagnon seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Wagnon made a motion to increase the pay of all Full-time hourly associates by $ 1.50 per hour and freeze the 2.5% yearly increases through the end of this council term 2025. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion to add a $ .25 shift premium for the police department for the officers who work the nightshift. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve for Greg McKee to order a John Deere 3046 R Compact Utility tractor at a cost of 35,425.89 from Tri-Green Equipment. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion for the city to pay $ 187.50 for the bus driver and gas for fourth grade kids to go to Talladega Superspeedway for a field trip. Councilman Wagnon seconded the motion. Councilman Sims abstained from voting and the rest voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to purchase one brush guard for $ 1,140.49 for the police departments new truck. Councilman Little seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Wagnon made a motion to be a sponsor in a golf tournament for the Etowah County Sheriff’s office for $ 125.00.  Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

With no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Rampey made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Wagnon seconded the motion. All voted aye.
