Council Minutes August 27, 2024

Mayor Hare called the meeting to order. Present were, Councilman Colt Turner, Councilman Cody Rampey, Councilman Jeff Little, Councilman Danny Wagnon and Councilman Michael Sizemore.

 

Richard Johnson gave the invocation.

 

Mayor Hare asked the Council to look over the minutes of the August 13, 2024, regular meeting, and note any changes to the City Clerk. Councilman Little made a motion to approve the minutes. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve accounts payable from August 13-August 26, 2024. Councilman Sizemore seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to approve Resolution 24-08 adopting a transportation plan pursuant to the Rebuild Alabama Act. (Act2019-2). Councilman Wagnon seconded the motion. All the others voted aye.

 

Councilman Sizemore made a motion to approve the sidewalk expansion at the library at a cost of $ 5,700.00. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to approve the trade in of our PacMac KB20-1818 on a new 2025 Kenworth T380 chassis at a cost of $ 46,942.00 for the new truck from Truckworx through Sourcewell contract 060920-KTC. Councilman Wagnon seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion to approve a donation of $ 150.00 to the Quality-of-Life Health Services, Inc. for the student scholarship golf tournament. Councilman Rampey seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Rampey made a motion to approve for Gilchrist Electrical to make repairs on the high school baseball and softball fields at a cost of $ 7,500.00. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Little made a motion purchase 3 new 2024 Chevy Tahoe’s at a cost of $ 156,225 from Donohoo Chevrolet and to spend $ 60,000 more to have them upfitted at Buster Miles. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.

 

Councilman Turner made a motion to pave Quarry Road at a cost of $ 174,039, Valmont Circle at a cost of $ 42,119 and Ethel Street at a cost of 42,280. Total cost will be $ 258,438 using Vulcan who has the county bid. Councilman Little seconded the motion. Councilman Rampey voted aye, Councilman Sizemore voted aye, Councilman Little voted aye, Councilman Turner voted aye, and Councilman Wagnon voted no.

 

With no further business to come before the council, Councilman Little made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Turner seconded the motion. All voted aye.
